Waste is getting a shake-up

Upparel have created a material they call UPtex which is made entirely from recycled textiles, and is recyclable over and over again through their fully mechanical (ie, not chemical) process.

Whether it’s for packaging, signage or even construction, they state that UPtex can be used as an alternative to cardboard, corflute, polyurethane foam, PET plastics, fibreglass, and more.

On December 31 of last year I posted a year in preview for 2023 (rather than a year-in-review) with some things I’d love to see happen this year… One of them was this:

Waste and recycling gets its first real disruptor. It’s loooong overdue.
