One of the coolest and most positive voices in the Aussie climate tech space, Charlotte Connell, shared this awesome definition of climate tech:
“A climate solution that uses technology to scale. That can be software such as carbon accounting or hardware such as a circular solution that uses food waste to make plastic wrap alternatives. And the solutions can be in the mitigation of climate impacts and also in the adaptation to climate impacts… it’s a broad, beautiful complex beast.”
It’s worth echoing that “broad” bit. There are so many examples of what climate tech covers that you wouldn’t recognise a lot of them as “tech”.
Check out the directory on Climate Salad to see many of those examples for inspiration (Charlotte is one of the directors).
