We’re right to hate sales advice

Have a think about these 3 things:

  • Selling feels like an extrovert’s game. Anytime you try to learn a script or sales technique, you feel like you need to wear someone else’s skin and act your way through it.
  • There ALWAYS seems to be an element of manipulation or trickery. You’re told you need to apply pressure, “convince” the buyer somehow, say only before the price, get people to comment “FRAMEWORK” on your post – something always feels fake or uncomfortable.
  • Tricks eventually backfire. If you happen to land the sale but that buyer’s skin is now crawling, they’re unlikely to want to experience that with you again (…would you?).

As soloists, we HAVE to sell our work.

We enjoy our work! We know we do it well and our clients will be happy – it’s just that bleeping sales bit that trips us up.

It simply doesn’t need to be so uncomfortable. If it is, you’ve been learning from the wrong people.

And this is exactly why I’m creating a new workshop for soloists to learn selling without douchebaggery, a-holeness or smoke-and-mirrors.

It’s likely to be some of the most anti-selling advice going around.
