Tooth hurty

I recently heard of the “green dentistry movement” which encourages dental practices to, among other things, invest in things like green dental tech.

One example is digital x-ray machines. These reportedly:

• use up to 90% less energy by simply using a digital signal instead of analogue.
• do away with film and toxic chemicals by only producing a digital file.
• expose both patients and workers to 80-90% less radiation.
• offer instant scans that can be resized and analysed in greater detail than film

I hope you never need to have your teeth x-rayed, but if you do, finding a dentist that can do it digitally is actually a big step up – environmentally and then some.
