Friend and co-climate-conspirator Leigh Baker is always reminding me that governments aren’t the ones who create innovation, and rather than wait for them to create policies and open their eyes to the climate crisis, we need to mobilise and support more entrepreneurs and innovators to come up with climate solutions.
Well it seems the pollies got the memo. Last night on #qanda I heard the enviro and climate minister Chris Bowen say what we’ve been saying for a long time – that the climate crisis is filled with opportunity.
He sees a lot of new jobs, a lot of innovation, and (thankfully) some new avenues opening up in the next 3 years or so.
I don’t agree with all of his comments from last night, but this was encouraging to see. Considering that Aus currently holds the wooden spoon as far as climate action goes, hopefully we’re on the way up the ladder a bit.
