Apparently this quote has done the rounds in engineering circles for decades - I saw it on a semi-viral LinkedIn posts recently.
I fully agree, but like a lot of quotes I think it over-simplifies a really complex thing. It'd be great to use less power, even better to actually need less.
Could you create an environment where you have "less need" for energy? It might not be an overnight thing, in fact I'd say it probably won't be - but overall I believe yes, you can create a lower-energy required environment.
