The enquiry wall

Resharing because it's important.

I've seen this too many times: hiding offers, prices, courses, and products behind an "enquiry" wall.

An enquiry wall could look something like this:

  • A button that just says "Let's Talk" or "Submit Enquiry"
  • A form that asks for far too many details, when all you need right now it one point of contact
  • Trying to capture the full scope of a project at step 1

For sure, there are situations where you need a wall up to filter out the wrong people.

But if you offer services, products, a self-paced DIY course, a book, and you're not planning on jumping into the value-based pricing abyss right now... there's almost no reason to hide the details behind a wall - especially the price.

It'll filter your buyers, drawing in the good-fits who want to buy, and repelling the bad-fits who shouldn't buy because they'll have the details they need.

The enquiry wall won't filter them like that. In fact, it might filter them completely opposite to how you want - it might:

  • Annoy the perfect customer and send them away at the sight of a form (and not a price)
  • Effectively hook the wrong customer, who enquires, wastes your time, and doesn't buy

When it comes to a product, a course, or something easy to explain with a known price... just tell 'em the price.
