Renewables are cheaper than coal

Every year the CSIRO does their “annual GenCost report” which among other things, outlines and compares the costs of various energy sources In Australia.

Wind and solar is abundant here, so even with the cost of storage included, it’s all far cheaper than coal.

The most recent word is that we’ll hit 80% renewable energy by 2030, with the last coal plants closing by 2032.

Yet for some reason, more coal plants are being approved and planned ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Expect the price of solar to keep falling – the more of us that bling up our roof, the more we’ll keep the demand and momentum up.
