Psychological trickery

List member Michelle R. shared this little gem of a job description from her search for a marketing role (I've highlighted my favourite bits, let me know yours 😃).

Aside from the points about psychology, which I essentially interpret as "do you understand how to manipulate people into buying stuff"...

The job application requires that applicants CREATE A FULL, LIVE CAMPAIGN, which they'll then use to generate revenue from. Michelle shared separately that elsewhere in the ad, it said "if your ad wins, you get the job"... from which one could deduce that when the opposite happens, it's a case of "your ad didn't win, but it still generated us cash for zero investment, so cheers!".

I really hate to say it... but anyone who applies to roles like this has just been played by the very tricks they're hoping you'll be good at.

For all we know, this is just a clever way for them to inject a bunch of creative into their client's campaigns, with no intention of hiring anyone. Unpaid spec work at it's very finest.

Mamma mia.
