I dropped a last-minute edit at the end of yesterday's email which I'm told needed some clarity.
The edit was "stakeholders aren't always people. A place can be a stakeholder too!".
Examples:
When a new highway is built, the land than needs to be cleared is affected - the land is a stakeholder.
When a new harbour is built on reclaimed land, the seafront or reef it's built on is affected - the sea or reef is a stakeholder.
When you see "Stop Adani" protest signs, the coal mine those signs are protesting would affect the land itself, the natural water springs beneath the land, the water corridors through the Great Barrier Reef where the coal ships would travel, and many more areas touched by the mine's operations. All of those areas are stakeholders.
Any project or organisation will have stakeholders that are affected by their operations.
The fun part is working out how to create positive impact rather than negative.
