Green smoke stacks

I just spotted these things on the City west link at the Rozelle interchange:

I believe these are the smoke stacks for part of the WestConnex works - turns out the greenery is part of a greater vision, as the designer tasked with "beautifying" them has said:

"...just like people, the city needs more than its basic functionality to be met."

While I know people will not like seeing smoke stacks popping up like this, I find that quote powerful.

I wonder what the public opinion of these things is?
