If your email and SMS inbox looks anything like mine at the moment, you’re pretty aware that the weekday of psychotic buying behaviour is just around the corner.
Not that sales aren’t awesome, especially if you’ve been holding out for a sale to buy something in particular.
But days like Black Friday, EOFY and others drive people to buy stuff they don’t need just because it’s on sale.
Recently shared quote:
“A report from think tank Green Alliance found that 80 percent of everything bought during Black Friday sales will end up either in landfill, incineration or at best, low quality recycling – often after a short life. It’s expected more than half of shoppers will buy electronic goods and almost a third will purchase clothes during Black Friday sales.”
Unless you really do need something that’s come on sale, I wanna challenge you to let the sale pass by.
Letting a sale pass by can be hard – I can definitely appreciate that.
If it is too hard, please take 2 minutes read the 4 stages of owning stuff which I often like to re-share around sale time (alternatively, check out the Green Friday website that lists a number of ethical local Aussie brands that might align with your values).
Otherwise, challenge yourself to let the sale pass. The 4-stages link above might help… If you don’t buy the thing and the world ends, let me know!
