Founded on sustainability

You don’t need a sustainability page on your website if everything you do is founded on a principal of environmental sustainability.

Heaps Good Packaging have been talking about expanding their offering of earth-friendly packaging for several years, and recently added a number of new items.

I went looking for their sustainability page, but when I didn’t find one, I realised that pretty much every product, page, and FAQ has a theme – they’re all designed from the outset to be essentially “good”.

Sustainability for Heaps Good isn’t an afterthought, it’s baked into everything they do. They’re not perfect an no one ever will be, but they’re doing a stellar job.

(…not to suggest that being an afterthought would necessarily be a bad thing. That’s how it’ll look for many established businesses who start adding sustainability practices to what they’ve been doing for years – it’s literally an after thought.)

Once that permeates every part of your operations though, it’ll start looking more like H.G, where it becomes almost impossible to produce something that isn’t sustainable.

We acknowledge that we work on Wangal land of the wider Eora nation now known as Sydney. Wangal land sadly no longer inhabits any Wangal people.

We pay respect to the Elders of the past, as well as current and emerging Elders of surrounding lands and beyond. Let's all care for Wangal land, the Eora nation and Country.

For self-employed creatives, normal business traps are easy to fall into and overcomplicate things - but they’re totally avoidable when flying solo.
