You probably got a few promotional emails today from companies jumping on the Earth Day bandwagon and trying to flog you their “eco” product line.
I love finding eco products — but days like today are a good reminder that going green isn’t just about adding a product line.
And as a consumer, it’s on you to do some digging into the companies you choose to spend your cash with.
You can trust the marketing emails, hollow promises or not — or you can spend a few minutes and check the company out to see if they’re actually on a path to a greener future. Do they have public sustainability statements, is their eco line any early step for them on their sustainability journey? Or do they just do a few “eco” products to satisfy that segment of customers?
Also, take another look at the Stages of Owning Stuff from a few weeks back and consider if you truly need this thing that’s on sale for today only 😉
