I guffed up yesterday.
In talking about offsetting your car, I used the terms offsets and credits interchangeably, which they're not.
TL;DR:
Carbon credits are issued to companies by the government. Carbon offsets are things you buy to 'offset' your emissions. The EV thing from yesterday uses offsets, not credits.
A useful glossary of terms is here if you'd like more compete definitions.
Or if you'd like to see me being a hypocrite and having a dig at people who use climate terms interchangeably when they shouldn't, leading to a full karma slap today, my daily email archive is here.
