Born Green; Made Green

Kompan are an Aussie company that build playgrounds for kids using almost all recycled material.

Many of the plastic pieces are made from recycled packaging or salvaged ocean waste, which is also fully recyclable at the end of it’s life.

Their main product catalogue (digital of course!) states that 80% of the emissions from their industry comes from raw materials, so they’ve taken the challenging path to work with more sustainable options, which they talk about as either Born Green or Made Green.

Born Green raw materials refer to low-carbon, sustainably grown natural materials (eg wood). Made Green are the recycled materials like plastics, textiles, metals and other stuff.

Simple philosophy, nicely summarised, and they did just enough to catch my attention in the playground this morning. Lovely example of climate tech in maybe a slightly unexpected industry.

We acknowledge that we work on Wangal land of the wider Eora nation now known as Sydney. Wangal land sadly no longer inhabits any Wangal people.

We pay respect to the Elders of the past, as well as current and emerging Elders of surrounding lands and beyond. Let's all care for Wangal land, the Eora nation and Country.

For self-employed creatives, normal business traps are easy to fall into and overcomplicate things - but they’re totally avoidable when flying solo.
