Been a while
Hope your year has started nicely. I’m just back from an extended break and have really missed writing. Please accept this email as a reminder to stick around, or jump ship if your inbox is clogged up. I did a new year clear-out too, so no offence taken.
On anchors though…
Work can feel shaky at this time of year, especially if the holiday period is quiet.
Something that can steady the ship is having a simple, core strategy already in place, that guides your moves over the next 12 months (or at least the next few weeks).
Personally I like to set a one-word theme for what I’m working on each year - I try to do it before year-end but as long as it’s decided around now, it really helps.
This years theme is “elevation” - the idea is that I’m aiming to help my clients elevate (in a career sense) out of delivery work and into more strategic work.
So while I’ll swerve around to different hopefully related topics, this will be my anchor for 2026.
If this idea helps, I’d love to know what your anchor might be this year.
It’s nice to be writing again 🙂
For self-employed creatives, normal business traps are easy to fall into and overcomplicate things - but they’re totally avoidable when operating as a company of one.
