A bigger shift

There are more climate-friendly options for just about any thing you can buy – but buying more things isn’t very helpful to the overall picture.

A bigger shift you can make is with your organisation – choosing to screen clients before working with them, to know if your work with them may cause harm, or in fact do good.

For example, if you work in advertising, your industry is in the spotlight right now. The agencies who create adverts for big polluters are being named and shamed, and many creatives are rebelling – committing to taking down the advertising that promotes the bad guys.

Your day job can go from being a cog in a faceless wheel, to making a real difference.

It’s not all about buying better stuff – remember that you can create huge shifts with your labour, not just with your spending.

We acknowledge that we work on Wangal land of the wider Eora nation now known as Sydney. Wangal land sadly no longer inhabits any Wangal people.

We pay respect to the Elders of the past, as well as current and emerging Elders of surrounding lands and beyond. Let's all care for Wangal land, the Eora nation and Country.

For self-employed creatives, normal business traps are easy to fall into and overcomplicate things - but they’re totally avoidable when flying solo.
