A shiny system

In the spirit of walking the walk, I’m adding a handful of products and services in 2025 that will help you create your first or next productised offer.

This year has been fun – everything you’ve seen in this newsletter has culminated into an extremely simple framework that helps you create new fixed-price products, build simple systems to run and sell them, then stack offers on top of them to build out a menu of products and services.

It’s all aimed at the self-employed creative who wants to remain solo for the foreseeable future (it could work for agencies, but it’s tailored very specifically to soloists).

Meaning next week, I’m going to trial a group program that aims to teach the chunkiest bits of my 12 week program in just 4 weeks, and aims to help you add a service to your menu of offerings before Christmas.

The topics we cover include:

  • Selecting a service you already deliver spectacularly, and turning it into a fixed-price product
  • Finding your Untouchable Advantage (everyone has one)
  • Building a landing page with a buy button at a price that is profitable for you, and an easy-yes for your buyer
  • A simple, data-informed pricing strategy that tells you how much selling you actually need to do, and when
  • Building a simple process for delivering your service efficiently, so you can improve on it, deliver it faster, and increase your price
  • Naming or branding your offer to create a memory shortcut for your prospects and give it “stickiness” (which also makes it a potentially sellable asset)

For me, it took all of my focus and effort to get my first productised services created. I’m a lifelong sufferer of Shiny Object Syndrome™, so it’s hard to explain just how hard it really was.

But in forcing myself to ignore the distraction of Yet Another Great Idea™, I kind of stumbled on a system for seeing one single idea through to it’s completion.

When you leverage shortcuts you already have – which you may not even realise you have – things become far simpler.

I’m calling it the One Shiny Object framework, for hopefully obvious reasons – it’s a way to focus in on one very strong part of your business, and pull a few levers to expand it, without affecting your existing work. Cool stuff.

I’ll have more details in a few hours ✌️

We acknowledge that we work on Wangal land of the wider Eora nation now known as Sydney. Wangal land sadly no longer inhabits any Wangal people.

We pay respect to the Elders of the past, as well as current and emerging Elders of surrounding lands and beyond. Let's all care for Wangal land, the Eora nation and Country.

For self-employed creatives, normal business traps are easy to fall into and overcomplicate things - but they’re totally avoidable when flying solo.
