Open-ended coaching 🙅

Below are 5 reasons why I don’t offer open-ended coaching:

• If you’re investing in coaching, I believe you should be working towards a goal with the right coach to get you there.
• I have strengths, and I have weaknesses – never pay for my weaknesses.
• Open ended coaching would benefit me more than you – an ongoing invoice for me, unlikely ongoing results for you.
• As a soloist your needs will change constantly, even in a year – you need to retain the ability to shift gears without needing to shake off a lumbering coach to make space for the next critical thing.
• There are enough issues with trying to manage waste around the world without adding me to the mix 🙂

That first point kicked off my whole approach – I had a coach, and would bring every issue to them. Of course they were kind, supportive, and well meaning… but like many of us, too proud to admit they weren’t the best person to be bringing this particular question to (ask someone a question, they’ll probably have an opinion right? That’s fine, but preferably not when I’m paying for that opinion).

I know my particular skill set, where I can help, but also where my limits are. I’m not a good fit for open-ended coaching, which is why all of my offerings are goal-oriented and fixed-term.
