Yesterday, this:

“…an incomplete forever work-in-progress that’ll never actually be done.”

Struck a nerve in several contexts.

Seems we’ve become so accustomed to thinking things should finish, when some are kinda always evolving.

Tech and software projects do this – as a full-time employee, the project going on forever ensures job safety, but as a contractor you’re probably happier when it “ends” so you can get paid.

Houses feel like this sometimes too. So do cars, kids, relationships, finances, and just owning ordinary stuff (thanks for all these examples AR, LG, PP, SK, TL and JR!).

A forever work-in-progress that seems to never end.

There’s something here to embrace – once you’re aware of the stuff that goes on forever, it feels much easier to accept the never-ending-ness of it.

We acknowledge that we work on Wangal land of the wider Eora nation now known as Sydney. Wangal land sadly no longer inhabits any Wangal people.

We pay respect to the Elders of the past, as well as current and emerging Elders of surrounding lands and beyond. Let's all care for Wangal land, the Eora nation and Country.

For self-employed creatives, normal business traps are easy to fall into and overcomplicate things - but they’re totally avoidable when flying solo.
