Climate solutions are often viewed through an ROI lens – eg: what’s the return on investment if we install solar?
What if you changed the perspective of that question and instead, asked what’s the waste on investment if we keep doing this thing?
That is, things you know aren’t going to pay off but you keep doing them anyway, just because it’s what you’ve always done.
Things like paying a digital ads company every month, even if you’re not getting any increase in traffic.
Or printing 10,000 brochures, mugs, and pens for promotional purposes, when you know they’ll probably get thrown away.
Or paying for a software subscription that you’re not using.
What I like about this approach, is that it doesn’t require a big expensive climate solution to be installed (like solar) – it’s simply considering every part of the business, and applying a climate mindset to it.
I hazard a guess that we all have WOIs… Have a go at eliminating one this week.
