Matching values

The definition of a climate-conscious business has become so complicated.

It used to be that if you offset your emissions in some way, you ticked a big green box.

Since so many offset schemes have either been proven fraudulent or misleading, it’s tricky for an organisation to engage in climate-smart activities that create meaningful change, let alone prove it does.

Alternate suppliers can be a good place to look.

Some of your suppliers might be those very companies that have been buying offsets, possibly for years or even decades. They likely did it with good intentions, not knowing the schemes could be dodgy.

But their intentions are in the right place, and if they were willing to do the work to get audited and purchase offsets against that audit, maybe they’ll go the next step now.

Find those companies that match your values.

And soon enough, your company will be one that others want to hire, because your values match theirs.

We acknowledge that we work on Wangal land of the wider Eora nation now known as Sydney. Wangal land sadly no longer inhabits any Wangal people.

We pay respect to the Elders of the past, as well as current and emerging Elders of surrounding lands and beyond. Let's all care for Wangal land, the Eora nation and Country.

For self-employed creatives, normal business traps are easy to fall into and overcomplicate things - but they’re totally avoidable when flying solo.
