These are my people

Why even have a climate policy?

We could say it’s for all the doomy-gloomy reasons like:

  • Every business will to need to show their climate commitment by 2030
  • It puts you on the front foot when the regulator does come knocking
  • Financing options might become limited without a climate policy

But I’m not gonna do that 😜

Some of the reasons organisations voluntarily create climate policies are:

  • Savvy consumers know to look for it, and will ask
  • It’s the way business is going
  • It’s just the right thing to do
  • It demonstrates a responsible approach to business, and that you’re in sync with the environment rather than always taking from it
  • But the one I love most: It signals to your potential customers that these are my people.

Every marketing book will tell you that people do business with people they know, like and trust.

Once folks know you (that one’s on you), a very transparent climate policy can give your “like” and “trust” a solid boost.

We acknowledge that we work on Wangal land of the wider Eora nation now known as Sydney. Wangal land sadly no longer inhabits any Wangal people.

We pay respect to the Elders of the past, as well as current and emerging Elders of surrounding lands and beyond. Let's all care for Wangal land, the Eora nation and Country.

For self-employed creatives, normal business traps are easy to fall into and overcomplicate things - but they’re totally avoidable when flying solo.
