Ever been told to “get to the point“?
Sometimes it’s easy.
Other times, you really do need to ramble for a while before the “point” truly makes sense – maybe there’s more than one point, or the point is just too big a concept to get across quickly.
In my other favourite topic—space—I’m always on the lookout for a simple explanation of Relativity. Like, a really super basic dumbed-down explanation, with video, that doesn’t require me understanding any maths.
Basically, I’m asking Relativity to get to the point… but how do you dumb down something so complex? There’s far too much to it.
You need to spiral around to all of the various subtopics to really understand it.
I probably need to cave and relearn some maths to really understand it. I probably need to be more patient and give the connecting concepts time to sink in.
I see climate—specifically climate action in business—in a similar way.
The point of this newsletter is to encourage businesses to go off and be sustainable, but if I just said “go be sustainable now”, that skips over all the details that are critical to understanding how, and why, and by when, and for who.
