I’ve been on the Oz DIY Electric Vehicles email list for years.
It’s a Queensland auto repair shop who do regular vehicle servicing, but also do electric vehicle conversions (as in, converting petrol cars to electric), plus the owner teaches non-mechanics how to do an EV conversion themselves using a kit in a one-day course.
I’ve come across a bunch of EV conversion shops in the last year or so, but I just love how ordinary this one looks at first glance (not intended as an insult).
It’s a humble repair shop we’ve all seen before. You can drive into the shop for an oil change or service, or you can visit their website and buy EV parts like motors, batteries, pluggy things, cabley things…
ORRR! You can buy a full conversion kit delivered to your door for $113k with a buy-it-now button. Seriously! All the way through to the checkout page, which I find awesome and hilarious:
Not sure how this flags if you put it through on your credit card – let me know if you try it!
If you’ve got an old Suzuki Swift gathering dust and a few tools, consider the $500 course and… maybe the $15k EV conversion kit, or whatever works for you 😀
