Electric cars have become pretty desirable.
These days, people love cars like Teslas for one because they’re electric, but also because they’re nice to look at. They’re fast too.
The hybrid Toyota Prius really was not a sexy car.
But it was one of the original alternative-fuel cars, at least in Australia, to set a new kind of status into motion. It was more about an enviro-conscious image, and maybe a bit of an early-adopter thing, rather than a hot accessory.
Now in 2022 you can get hybrid, electrics, and custom electric-conversions, in just about any size you want… and with more options coming every year, the affordability will get better too.
In the U.S, one custom build shop has taken electric conversions to a seriously awesome level.
Zero Labs does electric rebuilds and custom builds of old classics – complete ground-up overhauls from the inside to the outside. I don’t mind Teslas, but if prices were like-for-like I’d be more tempted by one of these.
Unfortunately they’re not like-for-like… the Zero things start at $225k USD.
…but I really hope we see more classic-looking stuff like this, especially as the tech becomes more mainstream.
Absolutely no reason why climate-conscious can’t be sexy.
