HydraCell is an Aussie battery innovation.
It’s an alternative rechargable battery that recharges by being dipped into water. You’ll have to follow the link to fully understand how it works. It’s currently being used in flashlights and lanterns.
The claim is that if you dip it in water for 15 seconds, you should get up to 100 hours of light.
The company behind it has stated that it’s enduring goal is to “ensure that every person, particularly those living in poverty, has access to affordable light and hand-held power, for individual safety, personal well-being, and improved quality of life.”
The power cells have a limited recharge life (around 10 recharges) before a new one is needed – but since they contain no toxins, chemicals or heavy metals, they’re 100% recyclable.
Water powered light – there’s so much potential!
