How’d 2024 go for you?
At the start of the year, I went with a one-word theme of “Assets” which was intended to keep me focused on building new products. Anytime my mind wandered or went looking for a new shiny object to chase, I’d put my thoughts through this “will it help build an asset” filter – very quick, very handy.
It mostly worked… I planned a bunch of assets, built a few, and planned a few more for this coming year.
For 2025, I’ve already committed to the one-word theme of “Experiments”… last year I experimented with a handful of new services and learned a lot through experimentation, so I’m going to do more of that.
The one problem I have is that “experiments” are more a process while “assets” are a goal. The point isn’t just to run X number of experiments and call it a win… the experiments need to inform new products.
One experiment I ran in 2024 was a beta group training program for building a productised offer, which I learned a lot from. The next version will be better because of it, and that’s the point!
If you had to pick a one-word theme to keep you on track with your goals for 2025, what would it be?
